Updates

Tuesday 9/6 – It was great seeing the world’s best surfers hitting crushing clean, 2-3 foot building surf today.  There were some standout performances as the swell increased in the afternoon. Everyone at Stokeshack.com is pumped for this swell to hit with full force so we can see what these guys can really do. I think we’re in for something special over the next few days.

Friday 9/9 – Insane action today in polished overhead surf, truly a spectacle.  Congratulations to Owen Wright who took down 10 time World Champion Kelly Slater in the final.  For highlights, videos, commentary and everything else related to the competition head over to www.quiksilverpro.com

Bump in the Night

ABV:6.5%
Brewery: Full Sail

In 2011, the Bump in the Night comes served in a 22 oz bottle, and as the name may suggest it is not your average event.  The label classifies it as “Cascadian Dark Ale” but I don’t get anything reminisenet of a dunkle or porter, this baby is all IPA.  If you like hops, its worth a try.  At 65 IBU’s its not over the top and if you are not “hopped up” like many beers and brewers in the current market you may find this dark cocoa roasted IPA to be something to try.  I was struck by the citrus flavor that the hops gave me, as I tried this with a yellow mango citrus curry dish, a symbiosis that brought the flavors of both beer and food alike together.  In my opinion, today’s carft beer market is flooded with IPA’s that quite frankly are just too hoppy, this mellow cousin is more sessionable and not as hop crazy.  Enjoy.
